Detailed Day Wise Itinerary

Day 01 :  Arrive at Delhi

Arrive at New Delhi’s International Airport. Following customs, immigration formalities and baggage collection, our representative will meet you as you exit the arrival terminal building after which you would be transferred to your hotel for check-in.

Day 02 : Delhi

Morning proceed for full day sightseeing of Old & New Delhi.

Introduction to Delhi starts with a heritage walk to Old Delhi (Shahjahanabad) visiting Red Fort, Jama Mosque, Chandni Chowk and Raj Ghat. In the 17th century, the Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan, made his capital in Shahjahanabad, the area that broadly covers present-day Old Delhi, also called the walled city.

Jama Masjid is the largest and most well-known mosque in India. It is flanked by Red fort on one side and old city Chandni Chowk on another side. Built by Shah Jahan in 17th century, Jama Masjid is one of the most crowded destinations in Delhi for pilgrims and tourists.

Also have an outer glimpse of The Red Fort.

The Red Fort was built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in the 17th century that took around 9 years to complete this magnificent structure and around 10 million rupees to build the fort. The Red Fort is a masterpiece of architecture and is one of the most visited spot in old Delhi. The Red Fort, the last fort built in Delhi, has witnessed the vicissitudes of fate, the Mughals, the British, and finally the first light of Indian Independence.

The romance of the bazaars of Delhi can be experienced at its best in and around Chandni Chowk and it’s by lanes. Today, the walled city is one of the metropolis’ most crowded, chaotic and captivating areas, with a bamboozling orchestra of sights, and sounds. According to legend, Chandni Chowk market was established during the reign of the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. The legend also says that Chandni Chowk market was designed by Jahanara-Emperor Shah Jahan's favorite daughter.

Following walk enjoy Rickshaw ride in the by lanes of Chandni Chowk.

Later visit Raj Ghat, resting place of Mahatma Gandhi's. Raj Ghat remembers the man who is known as the Father of the Nation for his tireless and pacifist work to reclaim India's independence.

Following visit of Raj Ghat, proceed for Lutyen’s Delhi covering a photo stop at India Gate followed by orientation tour of Raj path, Parliament House and President House.

Later visit to Humayun’s Tomb.

Humayun’s the second Mughal Emperor of India died in 1556, and his widow Hamida Banu Begam, also known as Haji Begam, commenced the construction of his tomb in 1569, fourteen years after his death. Humayun’s Tomb is the first distinct example of proper Mughal style, which was inspired by Persian architecture.

Later you will visit to Qutab Minar. 

Qutab Minar is amongst the tallest and the most famous monuments in the world. This beautiful minaret is 234 feet high and is regarded as the tallest individual tower in the world. The Qutab Minar is one of the many masterpieces that depicted the sheer brilliance of the Mughal architects.

Qutbu'd-Din Aibak laid the foundation of Minar in AD 1199 for the use of the mu'azzin (crier) to give calls for prayer and raised the first storey, to which were added three more storeys by his successor and son-in-law, Shamsu'd-Din Iltutmish (AD 1211-36).

Day 03 : Delhi to Agra (205 Kms / 05 Hrs)

Morning, travel to Agra by surface.

Famed with one of the Seven Wonders of the World - Taj Mahal, historical monuments, architectural grandeur ventures and the beauty of marbles, Agra thrives as one of the tourist destination in India. The city is known for its superb inlay work on marble by craftsmen supposedly with a lineage dating back to the Mughals. Agra’s handicrafts also include carpets, gold thread embroidery and leather shoes.

On arrival at Agra, check-in at hotel.

Afternoon proceed to visit to Agra fort followed by visit to Taj Mahal by sunset.

Agra fort is nestled on the west banks of River Yamuna, this crescent shaped fort was commissioned by Akbar, one of the greatest Mughal Emperors, in 1565. Since then, his descendants Jehangir, Shah Jahan and even Aurangzeb have added extensions to the fort. Surrounded by mighty ramparts, the complex has within the fort has several palaces, gardens, halls, and other historical structures.

Agra Fort offers great views of the Taj Mahal from across the Yamuna.

Following visit of Agra Fort, proceed for Taj Mahal.

Taj Mahal is one of the Seven wonders in the world and a must see place in India. It is the living specimen of romantic love life of Shah Jahan and his favorite beautiful wife Mumtaz Mahal. The construction of this beautiful monument was completed in 1653 AD. The Mughal King Sha Jahan built this as the final resting place for the queen Mumtaz.

It is believed that it took nearly 22 years to complete the grandeur palace. There are 22 small domes over the Taj Mahal, denoting the 22 years and the verses of holy Koran are inscribed on the domes. The white marble building changes its hue with the variations in the daylight.

In the evening you will witness the cultural show “Mohabbat The Taj”.

“Mohabbat the Taj” is a fascinating play that depicts the saga of love and a memorable journey into history. The Drama portrays the Mughal era in 16th Century; it is series of play depicting the true and immortal love of Shajahan for Mumtaj Mahal- his beautiful wife; the lavish lifestyle of Mughal era; hardship of the artisans for 22 years that created the most precious specimen of craftsmanship.

Day 04 : Agra to Gwalior (135 Kms/03 Hrs)

Morning, travel to Gwalior by surface.

Gwalior, the formerly princely state of Madhya Pradesh was ruled by Scindia dynasty of the Marathas. The city is famed for its outstanding palaces, sacred temples and glorious monuments. The majestic fort situated atop a hill, overlooking the entire city is an architectural gem. Situated on a prime location, Gwalior was a once dream city for many dynasties.

Later proceed for half day sightseeing tour of Gwalior visiting Gwalior Fort, Gujari Mahal, Jai Vilas Palace Museum and Tansen Tomb.

The magnificent Gwalior Fort stands on an isolated rock, overlooking the Gwalior town. The fort contains a number of historic buildings. It is one of the biggest forts in India and a postage stamp has been issued by the Indian Postal Service to commemorate the importance of this fort. From historical records, it is established that it was built in the 8th century and the foundation was laid by Raja Suraj Sen. Both the fortress and the city have been integral to the history of the kingdoms of North India.

Gujari Mahal lies within the Gwalior Fort, it is considered as a marvel of medieval architecture. The Mahal reflects the love of Raja Man Singh Tomar for his Gujar Queen, Mrignani. The Mahal now serves as a museum and houses an extensive collection of stone carvings.

The Jai Vilas Palace was constructed by Maharaja Jayaji Rao Scindia in 1874 to commemorate the visit of the Prince of Wales in 1876. It is one of the finest examples of Europian architecture, designed and built by Sir Michael Filose. The architecture of Jai Vilas Palace has a strong Baroque influence, with long colonnades, pigmented windows, sweeping carriageways and axial views. The Scindia Museum, Jai Vilas Palace Gwalior is a living legacy and synonymous to excellence in perseverance of art and culture.

Tansen Tomb is a pillar of Hindustani Classical music. Tansen, the great Indian musician was the gem at the court of Mughal Emperor Akbar. Tansen was conferred the title of Miyan, by Emperor Akbar and since came to be known as Miyan Tansen. He wrote two important documents on music namely Sangeeta Sara and Rajmala.

Day 05 : Gwalior to Orchha (140 Km/03 Hrs)

Morning, travel to Orchha by surface.

Orchha in Madhya Pradesh is a retreat of absolute bliss away from the drill and drone of city life. It is a scenic place where man's architecture and nature's artistry are in perfect symphony. Orchha is considered as ‘Photographer's delight and explorer's paradise’. Strewn around the area are the fort, little shrines and memorials, each with its own poignant history, each contributing to the nostalgic beauty that is Orchha. Unlike palaces in tourist hotspots like Jaipur and Jodhpur, Orchha’s palaces and fort has an understated charm. Even the Raj Mahal, the seat of the Orchha monarchs, has a simple façade. Orchha was founded in the 16th century by the Bundela Rajput chieftain, Rudra Pratap, who chose this stretch of land along the Betwa River as an ideal site for his capital.

Afternoon proceed for sightseeing tour of Orchha, includes visit to Jahangir Mahal, Raja Mahal, Laxminarayan Temple, Chaturbhuj Temple and Cenotaphs of Orchha.

Jahangir Mahal: Built by Raja Bir Singh Ju Deo in the 17th century to commemorate the visit of Emperor Jehangir to Orchha. Its strong lines are counterbalanced by delicate chhatris and trellis work, the whole conveying an effect of extraordinary richness.

Raja Mahal: Situated to the right of the quadrangle, this palace was built in the 17th century by Madhukar Shah, the deeply religious predecessor of Bir Singh Ju Deo. The plain exteriors, crowned by chhatris, give way to interiors with exquisite murals, boldly colourful on a variety of religious themes. Get a good guide inside here to take you all over the complex, including locked rooms, for a tip.

Chaturbhuj Temple: Built upon a massive stone platform and reached by a steep flight of steps, the temple was specially constructed to enshrine the image of Rama that remained in the Ram Raja Temple. Lotus emblems and other symbols of religious significance provide the delicate exterior ornamentation. Within, the sanctum is chastely plain with high, vaulted walls emphasizing its deep sanctity.

The Laxminarayan Temple presents a harmonious blend of fort and temple architectural style. The beautiful edifice of the sacred shrine of Laxminarayan Temple bears relics to the rich religious history and architectural legacy of the ancient times. A creative mix of the rich Bundel and Mughal style of art, the splendid engravings and paintings of Laxminarayan Temple portrays the rich artistic caliber and imaginative skill of the local artisans of the ancient times.

The Chhatries/Cenotaphs in Orchha bears relics to the royal glory and grandeur of the place during the bygone era. Situated besides the mighty River Betwa, the Chhatries are prominent travel attractions in Orchha. The beautifully constructed Chhatries in Orchha were constructed to symbolize the immense contribution of each ruler of the dynasty of Bundelkhand of the ancient times.

Day 06 : Orchha to Khajuraho (180 Kms / 04 Hrs)

Morning, travel to Khajuraho by surface.

Khajuraho, known all over the world for its temple architecture and exquisite sculptures is situated in the heart of India in the state of Madhya Pradesh. It lies in the forested plains of the region of Bundelkhand. The Khajuraho temples were built between the 9th and 11th centuries by the warrior kings of the Chandela dynasty. However, the definite reason behind such mass scale temple construction that is now over a thousand years old remains unknown. According to local legend, these temples were built by the first Chandela raja to atone his mother's sin, whose consummation with the Moon god heralded the start of the Chandela dynasty.

This fascinating light & sound spectacle evokes the life and times of the great Chandela Kings and traces the story of the unique temples from the 10th Century to the present day - narrated in the voice of Amitabh Bachan – the Bollywood legend. The 50 minutes sound and light show is conducted in the garden of western group of temples. The show runs in Hindi and English every evening.

Day 07 : Khajuraho to Panna (57 Kms / 01 Hr)

Morning proceed for sightseeing of Khajuraho includes visit to Eastern and Western Group of Temples.

Khajuraho has the largest cluster of Hindu and Jain Temples, famous for erotic sculptures. Khajuraho is a living example that proves that Kama Sutra originated in India.

The main temples are in the Western group, which features the magnificent Kandariya Mahadev Temple. It is the most beautiful and largest temple in Khajuraho. The tower of the temple is about 100 ft. high. The western group of temples is well known for their amazing elegance and wonderful framework.

The Eastern Group contains a number of exquisitely sculptured Jain temples. Parsvanath is the longest of Jain temples in the eastern group. The sculptures in this temple are non-erotic.

Later travel to Panna by surface.

Panna National Park is situated in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, at a distance of around 57 km from Khajuraho. The region, famous for its diamond industry, is also home to some of the best wildlife species in India and is one of the most famous Tiger Reserves in the country. The park is known worldwide for its wild cats, including tigers as well as deer and antelope. Due to its closeness to one of the best-known Indian tourist attraction in India, Khajuraho, the park is recognized as an exciting stop-over destination.

Day 08 : Panna

Early morning and afternoon, enjoy shared Jeep Safari at Panna National Park.

Panna National Park is spread over 1645 sq. km was carved out of the hunting reserves of Panna, Bijawar and Chatarpur states. Out of the total area 543 sq km is core and 1002 sq km is buffer. In 1994 it became India's 22nd Tiger Reserve. It is predominantly an open forest and offers great opportunity to view animals like Tiger, Sloth Bear, Cheetal, Sambhar and Nilgai. Panna is also home to crocodiles and over 300 species of birds.

Day 09 : Panna to Bandhavgarh (250 Kms /06 Hrs.)

Bandhavgarh National Park, the most popular national parks in India is located in the Vindhya Hills of the Umaria district in Madhya Pradesh. Declared as a national park in 1968 the Bandhavgarh National Park is spread across the area of 105 km². The name Bandhavgarh has been derived from the most prominent hillock of the area of Umaria. The area of Bandhavgarh is being flourished with a large biodiversity, the place which is also being famed to grip highest density of tiger population in India. Similarly, the park also beholds the largest breeding population of leopards and various species of deer. Over the years, the park has shown a great number of increases in the count of the tiger species and this is the reason why tiger tours is so famed to attract large amount of tourists at its vicinity. Bandhavgarh National Park consists of mixed vegetation ranging from tall grasslands to thick Sal forest and so is the perfect habitat of variety of animals and birds.

Day 13 : Kanha to Pench (130 Kms/ 3 Hrs)

Pench National park, nestling in the lower southern reaches of the satpuda hills is named after Pench River, meandering through the park from north to south. It is located on the southern boundary of Madhya Pradesh, bordering Maharashtra, in the districts of Seoni and Chhindwara.Pench National Park, comprising of 758 SQ Kms, out of which a core area of 299 sq km of Indira Priyadarshini Pench National Park and the Mowgli Pench Sanctuary and remaining 464 sq km of pench national park is the buffer area. The undulating topography supports a mosaic of vegetation ranging from moist, sheltered valleys to open, dry deciduous forest. Over 1200 species of plants have been recorded from the area including several rare and endangered plants as well as plants of ethno-botanical importance.

The area has always been rich in wildlife. It is dominated by fairly open canopy; mixed forests with considerable shrub cover and open grassy patches. The high habitat heterogeneity favours high population of Chital and Sambar. Pench tiger reserve has highest density of herbivores in India (90.3 animals per sq km).

Along with a strong local flavour and traditional bazaars, visitors will get to see a bit of Los Angles’ Hollywood, New York’s traffic jams, London’s Victorian Gothic architectural masterpieces and Paris’ swish bars and restaurants in this global city which is ever-evolving and welcoming.

Day 16 : Mumbai

Morning proceed for an excursion to Elephanta Caves.

Enjoy a boat ride to Elephanta Island, where the 8th-century shrine was cut from the hillside and houses the "Maheshmurti," or Hindu Trinity, representing the three aspects of Shiva the Creator, the Preserver and the Destroyer. These caves provide an exciting glimpse of Indian sculpture dating from about 600 A.D.

Later proceed for sightseeing tour of Mumbai covering Gateway of India, Hanging Gardens, Prince of Whales Museum, and Mani Bhawan.

The Gateway to India is an elegant 26 mtrs stone archway, hastily erected as a symbol of welcome to Queen Mary and King George V of England on their visit to India in 1911. In the years following, artisans added decorative carvings and lovely Jharokha work (window carvings), and completed it in 1923.

Later continue to the hanging gardens perched above Malabar Hill. These terraced gardens provide a beautiful panoramic view of the Arabian Sea were laid out in the early 1880s covering Bombay’s main reservoir. Visit to the Prince of Whales Museum, and Mani Bhawan.

Mumbai’s biggest and best museum – The Prince of Whales Museum displays a mix of exhibits from all over India. Designed especially as a museum, construction commenced in 1905 with the laying of the first stone by the then Prince of Wales. The architectural style is known as Indo-Saracenic -- a mishmash of Moorish Spain, Islamic domes, and Victorian towers. The Museum was opened to the public in 1922. Its collection has grown to include ancient items excavated from the Indus valley, Hindu and Buddhist sculpture, miniature paintings, weaponry, and natural history (including a variety of stuffed animals).

Mani Bhavan is Mahatma Gandhi’s home and Museum. This charming, 3 storied Gujarati house, painted brown and yellow, in a lovely Parsi neighborhood on Malabar Hill, was the home of Mahatma Gandhi from 1917-1934. Now overseen and maintained by the Gandhi Institute, it houses a library and a small museum about Gandhi’s life and birth.

Morning, transfer to Mumbai airport to board your onward/return flight.
